Easy Pizza Base Recipe
This is an easy pizza base recipe that doesn’t cost a lot and yields around 4 pizza bases, perfect for a casual night of entertaining for friends or if you’re me, perfect for comfort eating while you ponder if Manny MUA will ever release a new video.
Ingredients
- 800 g Plain Flour Plus extra for dusting
- 28 g Dried Yeast Usually 4 sold in 7g packs.
- 1 tbsp Caster Sugar
- 600 ml Warm Water
- 4 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp Salt
Instructions
Sift the flour, salt, yeast and caster sugar into a bowl. Make a well in the centre of the mix and then add the olive oil and pour in your water - a bit like you’re trying to drown that ghost from The Ring. Mix to a dough with a wooden spoon and then use your hands after it’s started to form a sticky dough making sure to clear off the from the sides off the bowl as you work it.
Flour your worktop then knead your dough like Nelly Needed Kelly in 2002 when he had a dilemma for around 10 minutes.
Grab a clean bowl and oil it. Place your dough into the bowl then cover with cling film and leave for 30 minutes or until it looks like it has doubled in size.
Lightly flour your work surface. Then take your dough and knead it on your surface to knock all of the air out of your dough. Divide into 4. Then roll the dough out to circles, between 9-10 inches in diameter, these will be reasonably thin-based like me in Summer. For me I work the dough into heavily floured pizza trays so they are reasonably uniform, make sure you flour your trays like a scene from Blow so they don’t stick. You can then move them to oiled or floured greaseproof paper to refrigerate or freeze until needed.
Recipe Notes
This recipe is for the base only, add your toppings and sauces of choice. These particular bases take around 10-12 minutes to cook in a preheated oven at 220 degrees cooked on a pizza stone or baking sheet. For Pizza Sauce Recipes or Pizza ideas check out my other recipes.
