Guinness Bread Recipe

When I think of “The Black Stuff” I think of the Symbiote Venom from Spider-Man, some people call Guinness the black stuff, sadly I don’t have any extraterrestrial black stuff and what with being Irish we’ve used some Guinness stout in this recipe.

Guinness Bread

An easy, no fuss bread that takes minutes to prepare and tastes delicious.

  • 250 g Coarse Wholemeal Flour
  • 100 g Dark Brown Sugar
  • 2 tsp Bicarbonate of Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 330 ml Guinness
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 225 ml Buttermilk
  • 50 g Butter Melted

  1. Preheat your oven to 220 degrees and grease a regular sized loaf tin.

  2. Mix together all of your dry ingredients in one bowl.

  3. In another bowl, mix the Guinness, Vanilla Extract, Buttermilk and melted butter.

  4. Pour your flour mixture into your liquid mixture, stir until well mixed. Then pour your mixture into your greased loaf tin and then top with some oats.

  5. Bake for 30 minutes at 220 degrees, then reduce the temperature to 200 degrees and bake for a further 30 minutes. Turn the oven off, open your oven door and leave the loaf tin in the oven for another 30 minutes to cool. After this, turn your loaf out onto wire rack to cool.
